The season, day by dayback to calendar
If you want to hear Piotr Beczala live you normally have to travel to Salzburg, London or New York, where this Polish tenor receives thunderous applause alongside one of his »on stage lovers«, like Anna Netrebko, Diana Damrau and René Fleming. Some of his extraordinarily expressive and self assured interpretations have been seen on the silver screen and television – including his performances at the Met of Chevalier des Grieux (Massenet's Manon) under Rabio Luisi and the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), for which he won the 2014 »Singer of the Year« ECHO Classic prize. An exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist, who has received many Grammy nominations, he has a wide and varied discograpphy which includes operatic rarities like Szymanowsky's Król Roger/King Roger, Offenbach's Die Rheinnixes/The Rhine Maidens, Johann Strauss's operetta Simplicius and his recent albums Heart's Delight. The Songs of Richard Tauber and The French Collection. It is almost a decade since he appeared at Oper Frankfurt as Werther. Now he is back again, in recital.
Piotr Beczała sings Schumann's Dichterliebe op. 48, Dvořáks Zigeunerlieder op. 55
and Lieder by Mieczysław Karłowicz and Rachmaninov. Here is the programme in detail.
