The Canadian soprano Jessica Strong, a former member of Oper Frankfurt's Opera Studio, returns again this season as a guest, adding two new roles to her repertoire: the title role in Barber's Vanessa and Marta in Weinberg's Die Passagierin/The (female) Passenger. Recent roles in Frankfurt have included Alice Ford (Falstaff), Lina (Stiffelio), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Woglinde (Wagner's Ring), Rosa (Le cantatrice villane) Eleonore (Martinů's Messertränen/A Knife's Tears), roles in Puccini's Suor Angelica, Monteverdi's L’incoronazione di Poppea and the world premiere of Riehm's Sirenen and she enjoyed a personal triumph singing her first Amelia Grimaldi in Simon Boccanegra. Jessica Strong's repertoire also includes Violetta (La traviata), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Susanna (Il segreto di Susanna), Ginevra (Ariodante), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Anne Trulove (The Rake’s Progress) and Helena (A Midsummernight’s Dream). This award winning singer has appeared in the Carnegie Hall in New York, as a member of the »Marilyn Horne’s Song Continues« society.
