The Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński is one of the leading countertenors in the world. His extraordinary voice and unique presence brings him invitations to appears at renowned opera houses and concert halls including the Berlin Philharmonie, the Concertgebuw Amsterdam, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Barbican in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, Disney Hall in Los Angeles, the Aix-en-Provence and Glyndebourne festivals. After making his triumphant debut at Oper Frankfurt in 2017  with Handel's Rinaldo he returned for Unulfo in Rodelinda, a role he has sung at the Opéra de Lille, and a recital. During the 2021/22 season, during which he is Artist in Residence at the Wigmore Hall, he had great success appearing at the Met in New York for the first time in Matthew Aucoin's Eurydice and making his debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in Handel's Theodora.  He's also touring Europe and North America with Michał Biel singing the programme on their latest recording Farewells which will be released in May, and Europe with the baroque ensemble Il pomo d'oro with the programme from their third album Anima aeterna. An exclusive Warner/Erato artist, Anima sacra and Facce d'amore, his first two albums, won him an Opus Klassik and International Opera Award. He studied at the Juilliard School in New York and Fryderyk Chopin University for Music in Warsaw. He was a member of the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw's Opera Academy and held Fulbright scholarships. He has won many singing competitions including the Oratorio Society of New York's Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition, the International Stanisław Moniuszko Competition, the International Early Music Competition in Poland, the Rudolf Petrák Competition in Slovenia, the Marcella Sembrich International Competition and the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
